Helping families with children |
Josephine Bresnik–Director |
Josephine has a strong interest in the care of children and their families when a child has a terminal illness. This motivated her to obtain a Bachelor in Community Education (Counselling Studies) in 2000 during which she was a committee member of the local branch of the National Association for Loss and Grief. Since that time, Josephine has worked in support/counselling work and the Funeral Industry. She is currently a member of the QTY (Queanbeyan Tallaganda Yarrowlumla) Health Council in NSW and does a variety of volunteer work in the community, including regular fundraising for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. She is the mother of four (her eldest died in 1995 after a long illness) and the grandmother of one. |

Denise has worked extensively in the areas of health information and statistical reporting. She has a wide range of skills including research and report writing, managing contracts and consultancies, as well as overseeing national health data collections. Dr Joan Buchanan–Director |
Joan was in General Practice for more than 30 years during which time she was able to fulfil her life's dream of being able to care for family members of all ages and stages. Her particular interest in the care of children was fuelled by the stimulus of her own six children. She has been the Chair of the ACT Division of General Practice's Aged Care Committee since 2001 and was the ACT representative on the Aged Care Committee of the Royal College of General Practice. She has been on the The Canberra Hospital's Ethics committee and is an examiner for the College of General Practitioners. Joan is a member of the Child Protection and Professional Standards Reference group for the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn and a contact person for allegations of sexual abuse within the Diocese. She has also been a member of the board of St Mark's Anglican Theological college and at one time chair of the board of studies. In 2004 Joan became a Member of the Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for services to medicine and the community.
