How you can help

Our lives are completely on hold as we take the time to care for, and enjoy, Kessia and Joshua and our family as a whole. So, instead of spending time hanging washing or making the beds, we'd rather be making chocolate chip pancakes or going for a swim! You can help us maintain a leisurely holiday existence (:-)) by helping in very practical ways:

Sign up on our house-help roster

This is being coordinated by Denise's sister, Brenda Stines. Basically, we are asking for assistance with general house chores for about 1 -2 hours per day, any time between 10am and 5pm.

Please contact Brenda to sign up.

Gardening assistance

We've had two generous offers of help but other offers will be gladly received for future needs. Kessia is keen to grow tomatoes and strawberries in two overgrown vegetable patches. Please e-mail us if you can help with weeding or other gardening chores.

Join our "Joshua Roster"

We are looking for about half a dozen people to commit themselves to being a weekly part of Joshua's life and offer him loads of attention, stimulation and stability. Please contact Denise if you are able to commit around 4 hours per week to being a special friend for Joshua. We want him to have as much active play time as possible, and if it's with other kids, that's even better!

(For masochists only...) The 6am shift!

Either arrive at our house around 6am or sleep over the night before so that when the kids wake you can help change them and give them breakfast while Geoff and I sleep in. We are woken 4, 5 or more times a night with Kessia needing to go to the toilet, or being uncomfortable, or wanting a snack, or tucking Josh into bed, etc. Geoff and I have found getting a few hours extra sleep, even once or twice a week, is a fantastic help. Please contact us directly if you can be a morning angel from 6am to 9am any day of the week.

Call us

We don't mind phone calls. If you have a spare hour, call and ask if we need anything. We might hand over a shopping list, or ask you to collect things for us. We may desperately need someone to run Josh around in the park. Or we may just want to pop out for a coffee.

Donations

We are awaiting the sale of our house which will free up some money for us, but if you are in a position to contribute money, we aren't above asking :-). Geoff is off work and we envisage that he will be taking about a year off. We have lots of things we want to do with Kessia. A few of our ideas include a weekend in Sydney to see the Chinese Circus, a hot air balloon ride, camping, and taking her to the coast. Extra money gives us the freedom to do things as easily as possible, like fly to Sydney instead of drive, or hire maxi-taxi's for wheelchair transport, etc. Probably the best way is a cheque to our home address.
